What is Public Lands Day?
Public Lands Day celebrates not only our natural areas, but the connections they form with people. Public Lands Day is the single largest outdoor volunteer day in the nation. From citizen science, to environmental stewardship, Public Lands Day offers something for us all.
Public Lands Day Schedule:
8:00am-9:00am Discovery Center Invasive Plant Removal
- Join us, as we take care of our Public Lands by cleaning up invasive plants around the Discovery Center's boardwalk and native pollinator garden.*
- *Those planning to participate in the plant removal should bring water, sun protection, gloves, wear long pants, and comfortable closed-toed shoes.
- This portion of the event will be off trail and in some cases, on uneven terrain.
9:00am-11:00am - Citizen Science Walk-about
- Walk around the center's pavilions and discover all the different citizen science programs you can partake in with the click of a button and more!
11:00am-12:00pm - Polk County Public Lands Presentation
- Come meet Tabitha Biehl, Polk County's Environmental Lands Manager, and learn about all Polk County's various public lands open to the public.*
- *Registration is required for the presentation
