About this Event
Join us for a night filled with Italian cinema at the Hamilton Italian Centre - SDI Hamilton Community Corporation.
Join us for a viewing of the movie "Napoli New York". The plot follows two Neapolitan children, Carmine and Celestina, who, in the aftermath of World War II, secretly board a ship bound for New York to escape poverty.
They hope to find Celestina's older sister who had emigrated years earlier. The cast includes Pierfrancesco Favino, Dea Lanzaro, and Antonio Guerra.
The movie was filmed over a period of 12 weeks in locations including Naples, Trieste, Rijeka (Croatia), and the Cinecitta studious in Rome. It has been described as a "tender, nostalgic tale" and a "compelling and hopeful coming-of-age story" that explores themes of dreams, disillusionment, and the pursuit of a better life.
Introduced by Professor Ernesto Virgulti with Q&A to follow. Refreshments will be served.
