Join CLSJ to see how right-wing groups have made it harder to vote since 2008, especially for minorities and young people.
About this Event

Thought you knew something about voter suppression and gerrymandering? Think again.

Join CLSJ for a feature presentation of "Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook." As we fight our own battles here in New York to ensure access to the polls, we invite you to join fellow activists, voters, and legislators for this screening and discussion.

In this critical presidential election season, it is timely to watch this award-winning documentary. Narrated by Jeffery Wright, Rigged chronicles how the right to vote is being systematically undermined through a decade of dirty tricks, including partisan gerrymandering, voter purges, and the gutting of the Voting Rights Act by the Supreme Court in 2013.

Why Attend:

This event is a key part of CLSJ's Our Future Our Vote campaign, which aims to:

  • Elevate civic knowledge and participation in NYC communities of African descent, especially for voters aged 17-40
  • Build infrastructure for sustained political empowerment within NYC’s Black communities
  • Center the power of the people through voting, civic engagement, and grassroots organizing

Invite friends, family, and fellow activists. Each person must register separately.

By participating in this event, you agree to allow event organizers to take photographs and videos for promotional, social, and archival purposes.
