Saturday, May 4, 2024, brings a Cinco de Mayo celebration! Jay Heneghan and the John Rangel Trio have put together a selection of their favorite boleros, Cuban rumbas, salsas, and bossa novas to share on this Mexican holiday. They'll include stories of how this rhythmic music infused their Mexican and Puerto Rican family histories. Classics like ''Lagrimas", "Negras," 'Somos Novios" and 'Historia de Un Amor" will be featured, along with modern classics by contemporary Latin American artists.
Jay may be new to the Bistro but she comes to us with serious chops, She is a classically-trained pianist, she grew up in a large, musical family and her early musical influences were a grab bag of styles and genres. She draws on all of these influences to create a playlist that listeners from a wide range of tastes and generations can enjoy. Jay is also the lead singer of JJ and the Hooligans, a Santa Fe-based dance band consistently named among the city’s best, and her performances are both electric and engaging!
The Santa Fe School of Cooking chefs have created culinary delight from the cuisine of Mexico to accompany this muy caliente performance!
