Don’t miss our extra special screening of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and our Queer Holiday Bazaar on Friday, December 20th! We'll also be holding our annual queerlastic book exchange, so bring a book to swap with a community member before the film.
Before and after the film we’re serving up a spectacular queer holiday market in the lobby of Texas Theatre! Come shop queer art, gifts, and connect with local organizations who are all about supporting our community. The Bazaar kicks off at 7:30pm, and the superhero action starts at 9pm!
In this animated gem, Batman is facing off against a mysterious figure who’s eliminating Gotham’s most dangerous criminals—leaving everyone to wonder if it’s the Caped Crusader himself! Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne is about to marry the lovely Andrea Beaumont — threatening to put a stop to his crime-fighting days!
What makes it queer?
Kevin Conroy of course! The voice of Batman for many generations was provided by Queer actor Kevin Conroy. Take that toxic masculinity! Plus, Bruce’s repression of personal desires (particularly love for Andrea), and sacrifice of personal happiness for Gotham’s sake mirrors the conflict many LGBTQ+ individuals face in reconciling their true selves with societal expectations and the alienation felt by many in our community.
