About this Event
Join us for an afternoon celebrating the rich holiday musical heritage of Ukraine with the magical sound of the traditional Ukrainian instrument, the bandura. The program will feature a delightful mix of Ukrainian winter holiday music, ranging from the deeply spiritual koliady, or Christmas carols, to the lively and folkloric shchedrivky, which are sung on another Ukrainian holiday of the season, as well as some classic carols in the English language. Our performers, bandura musicians Zoya Shepko and Teryn Kytasty-Kuzma, will highlight this string instrument’s unique ability to evoke both tender nostalgia and vibrant energy as the concert weaves together ancient themes and modern interpretations.
