About this Event
Please do consider a donation this Christmas for conservation - all kindnesses, small or large, go a long way in helping us deliver our nature outreach programme.
Evidence of the loss of nature is everywhere, and biodiversity is higher on the political agenda than it ever has been. On the one hand this is a huge opportunity for conservation but on the other, it is hard to stay positive in the face of overwhelming evidence of ecological crisis. How best can biodiversity scientists respond to these circumstances? Using evidence of how and where conservation works, and with a framing of conservation optimism, I will give my take on how we can work together as a scientific community towards a future where people and nature thrive.
is Tasso Leventis Professor of Biodiversity at the University of Oxford. Her research addresses understanding, predicting and mitigating biodiversity impacts, and monitoring and evaluating conservation interventions for their social and biodiversity outcomes. She has two Honorary Doctorates, has won four awards for her research and was made a Dame of the British Empire for services to international conservation in the 2023 King's Birthday Honours.
