Experience an enchanting evening of music under the stars at Christmas in the Quad, a cherished end-of-year tradition in the beautiful surrounds of St George’s College. This festive concert features soprano Emma Matthews, pianist Raymond Yong, violinist Paul Wright, and the West Coast Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sam Parry.The program brings together classical favourites and seasonal highlights, from the effervescent Overture to Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Greensleeves, to beloved operatic and orchestral works including Gounod’s Je veux vivre, Puccini’s O mio babbino caro, and Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers. The evening also includes a selection of much-loved carols and festive favourites, alongside the warm lyricism of Morricone’s Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso.
Guests are welcome to bring their own food, low chairs, and picnic blankets, and relax in the picturesque College grounds as the sun sets. Doors open at 5:30 pm for a 7:00 pm concert, offering a memorable way to celebrate the festive season and the close of the year.
All public seating is unreserved and general admission. Only picnic blankets, cushions & low chairs are allowed. Children under 12 are free, but must have a ticket and be accompanied by an parent or guardian with and adult ticket.
Seating will be available to reserve from 5:30pm on 22 December 2025. Please note that any items placed earlier will be safely set aside and stored.
