Christine Hurley
Christine studied the cello at the Royal College of Music where she won the Scholfield and Rootham prizes and gained her ARCM and BMus. She continued her studies at the National Centre for Orchestral Studies where she played the Miaskovsky cello concerto. Her playing career encompassed The Ulster Orchestra, Sadler’s Well Royal Ballet The Richmond String Quartet and the piano trio Double Image. After a music teaching career in Hertfordshire, Christine relocated to the Isle of Harris where she taught music, and was director of the Harris Arts Festival and the Harris Choir. Since moving to Edinburgh she has given solo cello recitals and duo recitals with the pianist Nancy Crook at the Edinburgh Society of Musicians and across Fife, with the Eden Ensemble with Guitarist Stephen Morrison and with the Fruitmarket Trio.
