Christine Fawson is a jazz singer and freelance trumpet player known for her old-school entertainer style and wide musical range. Raised in Ukiah, California, and shaped by years living across the U.S., she has built a career spanning more than two decades as a performer, solo artist, and educator. A lifelong musician, she fell in love with jazz in high school and went on to study at BYU–Hawaii and Berklee College of Music with some of the field’s most respected artists.
From 2003–2017, Christine served on the faculty at Berklee College of Music, teaching brass, voice, harmony, ear training, and ensemble, while also performing with faculty groups and serving as Acting Chair of Brass. She has lectured and performed nationwide, worked as a guest conductor and adjudicator for national music organizations, and in 2025 was Guest Conductor for the Massachusetts All-State Jazz Big Band at Symphony Hall in Boston. A finalist in the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition (2017, 2019), she has been praised by *DownBeat* for her “compelling dynamism” and by *All About Jazz* as “a performer who must be seen, as well as heard.”
As a performer, Fawson has collaborated with major artists and organizations including Phil Wilson, Adele, Disney, Bose, and MSC Cruises, and has appeared at festivals, concert halls, and clubs around the world. She has recorded four albums as a leader, ranging from traditional jazz to original pop-jazz compositions, and continues to perform internationally as a soloist. A former member of Syncopation and Sherrie Maricle’s DIVA Jazz Orchestra, Christine’s career blends deep jazz roots, expressive storytelling, and a lifelong passion for making music connect.
