Join Ruby City in celebrating 20 years of Chris Park, the artist-designed greenspace created in memory of Linda Pace’s son, David Christopher (Chris) Goldsbury. Once an asphalt lot, the one-acre site was transformed in 2005 into a lush sanctuary of art, memory, and nature—a collaboration between artist Teresita Fernández, landscape architect Jon Ahrens, and Linda Pace. The celebration will include tours of the park, remarks from special guests accompanied by a celebratory toast, beautifully designed cake from Oh Yeah Cakes, music provided by Santita, and experiences led by local storyteller, dancer and author of Loteria Remedios, Xelena González. Guests will also have an opportunity to collect a commemorative hand printed poster designed by local artist Gilbert Martinez or a plant cutting from Chris Park, itself. Posters and plants will be available in limited quantities and will be distributed on a first come first served basis.
This free community event honors two decades of remembrance, creativity, and renewal at Chris Park.
Chris Park is located at 111 Camp Street. Free parking is available along Camp Street and Ruby City’s parking lot at 1203 S. Flores Street.
