RABINDRASANGEET IN A THOUSAND VOICES: INDIA PAYS TRIBUTE TO RABINDRANATH TAGORE.
It’s a Sangeet Bharati Muktadhara initiative, conceived by Arundhati Deb, founder of Sangeet Bharati Muktadhara.
GET READY TO WITNESS A MUSICAL MILESTONE
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. over one thousand singers will sing Rabindrasangeet in unison, in eleven states of India, to pay tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on the occasion of his 165th’ birth anniversary. The eleven States are Delhi N.C.R, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil-Nadu, Telangana, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam and West Bengal.
Over one hundred singers will be singing from each of these eleven States. Thus, the title of the event in Bengali is SHAWTO KAWNTTHE SAWHOSRO KAWNTTHO.
Sub Title: Chironutan.
The concert will be held in eleven cities of the eleven participating States. The cities are: Delhi, Bhopal, Bhilai, Navi Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jamshedpur, Rourkela, Silchar and and Kolkata.
All the eleven auditoriums in these eleven cities will screen ‘live’ videos of the eleven concerts ongoing in the eleven States.
The concert, which will be of ninety minutes duration covering 17 songs of Tagore, will be unique, as all the songs will be sung simultaneously by all the singers of the eleven States on the same day, at the same time, with the same music tracks.
This attempt to re-present Rabindrasangeet in a new choral form is sure to be a novel experience for Rabindrasangeet lovers.
