Chinese Painting on Lanterns - A Workshop
We're back at Duke street Market where we will teach you how to create your own Lantern and decorate it using Chinese Brush Painting. You will use materials such as Bamboo Brushes, Sumi Ink and Mineral Paints. Painting Lunar New Year themed topics onto your own hand crafted paper lantern.
First of all we'll build our lanterns together and whilst they're waiting to dry our teacher and local artist Ula Fung will demonste some Chinese painting techniques. Before you start painting on your Lantern you will warm up by painting onto Rice paper. We will bring along a selection of references themed on the Lunar New Year! This workshop is suitable for beginners and up so if you haven't picked up a paint brush since school or you regularly paint in your own time, everybody is welcome to create together. MAKE A DAY OF IT! This Workshop is located at Duke Street Market in Liverpool where food & Drink will be available to purchase before, during and after the workshop. Make a day of it! Knowledge required
• Beginner friendly - all levels welcome.
Materials (all provided)
• Chinese mineral paint, ink, rice paper, felt mats, Rice paper and Lanterns.
What you'll get:
• All of the equipment and materials needed for your class.
• Protective equipment such as aprons.
What to bring
• Comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little paint on.
• A carrying bag to take your artworks home.
