Chinese Painting on Lanterns - A Workshop
Join us in celebrating the Lunar New Year by crafting your very own lantern! Create your own Lunar New Year decoration and learn traditional painting techniques from a local artist.
We're returning to Ducie Street Warehouse where we will teach you how to create your own Lantern and decorate it using Chinese Brush Painting. Participants will use traditional materials, including bamboo brushes, ink, and vibrant mineral paints."
The workshop will begin with a demonstration from our teacher and local Artist Ula Fung. She will teach you some basic painting techniques and before you start on your Lantern you will warm up by painting onto Rice paper. We will bring along a selection of references themed on the Lunar New Year. You will then have a chance to think about your design before beuilding and painting your Lantern.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and up so if you haven't picked up a paint brush since school or you regularly paint in your own time, everybody is welcome to create together.
This Workshop is located at Ducie Street Warehouse in Manchester's Northern Quarter Enjoy a selection of hot and cold beverages, including alcoholic options, available for purchase during the workshop.
Knowledge required
• Beginner friendly - all levels welcome.
Materials (all provided)
• Chinese mineral paint, ink, rice paper, felt mats, Rice paper and Lantern.
What you'll get:
• All of the equipment and materials needed for your class.
• Protective equipment such as aprons.
What to bring
• Comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little paint on.
• A carrying bag for take your artworks home.
