About this Event
An immersive Chinese New Year gathering honoring ancestry, ritual, and the evolving expressions of diasporic culture.
Heritage Ritual is a ceremonial evening weaving together sound, movement, and intention—bridging ancient traditions with contemporary forms.
Throughout the night, you’ll be guided through a multi-sensory journey including:
• Neo Chinese bass music + downtempo journey DJ set featuring original music by shelajit with live guzheng
• Live dragon sound healing journey by Ember Luna and Xuun featuring live looping, guzheng, flute, throat singing, jaw harp, drumming and ambient soundscapes
• Ritual Movement performances fusing traditional Chinese dance and modern forms by Cat, Ember Luna, Xuun, and shelajit
• Qigong for the breath, stretch and flow of the final shed of the Wood Snake Year to come into harmonious energetic alignment with the Year of the Fire Horse
• Gong Fu Cha tea service with Buckminster of Deep Creek Tea Cllective
• Live visuals and immersive atmospheric projections by Ixikos
This gathering honors Chinese New Year as a living ritual—one that adapts, evolves, and continues through the bodies and creativity of the diaspora. Come as you are. Come to listen, to feel, to witness, and to welcome the new cycle with intention.
Shelajit
Like the medicinally rich black tar from which their name is derived, shelajit
channels a deep, refined essence into everything they create. A visionary music producer, dancer, and performer, they fuse electronic production with the organic resonance of the guzheng, crafting sonic landscapes that feel both timeless and innovative.
Rooted in emotion and atmosphere, their compositions seamlessly weave ethereal vocals with intricate sound design, blending traditional Chinese instrumentation with modern electronic textures. Their music is an exploration of contrast: organic and synthetic, delicate and raw,
structured yet deeply intuitive.
Sean T Fox
Sean T Fox is a Daoist Medicine Minister, Yoga and Qigong Teacher, Ceremonialist, Sound Healer and Musician devoted to personal and global health, bringing an open-hearted passion for being in service and sharing these gifts.
Cat
Cat is an innovative artist and movement storyteller who works between body, vision, memory, and spirit. Weaving spoken word, avant-garde theatre, and intuitive movement, she transforms personal narrative into collective remembrance. Her work listens for what lives beneath: inherited silences, grief carried through generations, joy for who you really are, and the pulse of forgiveness.
Ember Luna
Ember Luna is an interdisciplinary artist, dancer, musician, and storyteller who creates immersive performances that bridge sound, movement, and ancestral reverence.
Through improvised dance and zither, she invites audiences into intimate otherworlds of awe, magic, and embodied wonder. Her work weaves tradition and personal ritual, translating her connection to the divine into something that can be seen, felt, and experienced.
Each offering is an invitation into raw becoming: a space where the body becomes an altar, the stage becomes ceremony, and emergence is cocreated with the audience in real time.
Xuun
Xuun (Calvin Luu) is a Vietnamese intuitive sound alchemist. He offers unique live-looping sound healing journeys weaving acoustic and electronic sounds.
His music is created live in the moment by tuning into the individual and collective energy of the audience. He co-creates with the participants so that what is intuitively needed is allowed to emerge.
Each journey may incorporate guzheng, jaw harp, chanting, channeling, shamanic drumming, rattles, throat singing, flute, pan drum and other sounds inspired by his ancestors and guides.
