Ontdek de levende verhalen achter de Chinese cultuur in Antwerpen tijdens deze unieke rondleiding door Chinatown Antwerpen.We starten onze tocht in de Permeke Bibliotheek, waar we de tentoonstelling Legends of Liondance bezoeken. Daar duiken we in de geschiedenis, symboliek en culturele betekenis van de Chinese leeuwendans.
Vervolgens trekken we naar een traditionele kungfuschool, waar je leert hoe krijgskunsten, discipline en leeuwendans nauw met elkaar verbonden zijn.
Daarna wandelen we door Chinatown Antwerpen, waar we onder andere kennismaken met een acupunctuurpraktijk, een boeddhistische tempel en supermarkt Sun Wah, waar we een kijkje nemen in de non-foodafdeling.

De rondleiding wordt begeleid door Joe Choi, organisator van Legends of Liondance en een Belgian Born Chinese (BBC) met diepe wortels in Antwerpen. Aan de hand van persoonlijke verhalen en culturele context brengt Joe het erfgoed van Chinatown op een toegankelijke en boeiende manier tot leven.

Discover the living stories behind Chinese culture in Antwerp during this unique guided tour through Chinatown Antwerp.
We begin our journey at Permeke Library, where we visit the exhibition Legends of Liondance, exploring the history, symbolism, and cultural meaning of Chinese lion dance.
From there, we continue to a traditional kung fu school, where you’ll learn how martial arts, discipline, and lion dance are deeply connected.
Next, we walk through Chinatown Antwerp where we can find a place for accupuncture, Buddhist temple and Supermarket Sun wah, where we will visit the non-food section.
