Join us for a Free "Chill grooves and timeless soulful vibes" jazz concert with Ivan Hartle on Sunday, June 21, from 1-3 pm in the Lynn Valley Village Plaza.Vancouver guitarist and singer-songwriter Ivan Hartle fuses a vintage acid-jazz sonic aesthetic with modern soul, R&B, and pop elements. Hartle draws inspiration from the classic soul sounds of Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, and newer artists like John Mayer and Leon Bridges. His smooth danceable grooves also recall 1990s band Jamiroquai.
Pivoting from a successful US college baseball career into music, Hartle’s standout album A Place to Stay has received considerable airplay on CBC and has amassed more than 10 million streams on Spotify. Hartle’s band includes guitarist and backing vocalist Matt Storm, drummer Trent Otter and bassist Yamil Chain-Haddad.
This concert is part of North Shore Jazz (June 19-28), presented by BlueShore at CapU in partnership with Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
