This self-guided trail brings books out into the streets for families to enjoy reading in unusual places. And is a fun, free way for families to explore Swindon's heritage areas and learn about Swindon's history.
Follow the 15 story stops along The Works Heritage Trail to read local author Hannah Dosanjh's beautiful book, A Railway Town Called Swindon.
The flat trail starts on Bristol Street, and takes in GWR Park and the Railway Village including Emlyn Square, the Water Tower, Central Community Centre, the Platform and the Railway Village Museum.
Each stop stop includes a map and a copy of the map is available on our website. To view it, click the Facebook ticket link.
If you'd like to read the book at home, A Railway Town Called Swindon is available to borrow from our libraries, or to buy from Central Library Shop.
We have created the trail in partnership with The Works Heritage Trail, and it is funded with thanks to Historic England as part of Heritage Open Days.
