About this Event
Reminder this session is for Manchester Metropolitan University Students ONLY.
YOU MUST SIGN UP WITH YOUR MANMET STUDENT EMAIL.
Each Saturday, we turn the university into a primary school. We invite local school children aged between 6-10 years old.
This is your chance to make a huge difference in the local community which will ultimately lead to brilliant career prospects for you. There is no expectation for you to be from a teaching course or even want to go into a career in teaching. This is all about building transferable skills that you will develop with the public which will ultimately aid any career pathway.
Children Without Limits is an outstanding project to be passionate about in applications and interviews, which has subsequently proven to help students get to where they want in their careers.
You must attend 2 compulsory training sessions before children arrive in early November. They take place on:
Training Session 1 - 1pm 11th October 2023
Training Session 2 - 1pm 1st November 2023
Children arrive on campus on Saturday 4th November. You will need to commit to at least 5 consecutive Saturday mornings from 9.30am - 12.30pm.
You will be responsible for helping the children’s development whilst acting as their teaching assistant – taking direction from the class teacher. You will gain valuable skills and hands on experience of working with the public and children, whilst building confidence as you go.
It is a fantastic opportunity to make your CV stand out and is something that you can talk about passionately when you start looking for your first job or the next step on your journey. It is also a great chance to meet new friends and likeminded people.
Hopefully you will enjoy it so much that you will want to stay for all 15 sessions across the year.
YOU WILL RECEIVE THE UNIVERSITIES RISE AWARD IN RECOGNITION OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS FOR COMPLETING THE CHILDREN WITHOUT LIMITS PROJECT
All students who wish to be involved in this project MUST complete the training session.
The training will cover:
- How children learn.
- Breaking down barriers to support children learning.
- Safeguarding young children.
We can't wait to see you there!
