Child Abuse Awareness Rally – Stand Up for Oklahoma’s Children
April may be Child Abuse Awareness Month — but for Oklahoma families, this fight doesn’t end when the calendar turns.
Too many children have spoken up and were not protected.
Too many parents have begged for help and were ignored.
The failures of OKDHS, Oklahoma family courts, and law enforcement are not abstract — they are real children, real families, and lasting harm.
This rally is about accountability.
This rally is about awareness.
This rally is about change.
What we are demanding:
• Law enforcement must properly investigate crimes against children — not defer or dismiss them.
• Child abuse is a criminal matter — DHS workers are not criminal investigators.
• An end to bias, conflicts of interest, and “who you know” influence in DHS, law enforcement, and courtrooms.
• Mandatory, specialized training for judges, attorneys, and guardians ad litem in domestic violence, child abuse, and child welfare.
• Real application of “best interest of the child” — not using it as a blanket justification while ignoring evidence.
• Accountability with consequences — failures to protect children must carry enforceable, punishable penalties.
• No blanket immunity for professionals who neglect, ignore, or mishandle child abuse cases.
• Perjury must be prosecuted — including false statements made by DHS workers, law enforcement, guardians ad litem, and attorneys.
We are calling on:
• Survivors
• Protective parents
• Families failed by the system
• Advocates and community members
