About this Event
Chicha Fest is a vibrant community process that seeks to contribute to the co-creation of alternative systems and cultures based on care, diversity, and social and environmental justice through the exchange of crafts and arts. We are guided by the cosmology of Indigenous peoples and their dialogue with contemporary society, as well as by the exploration of our own identities, roots, and aspirations.
This year's event will be hosted at the Latino Center of Arts & Culture and will consist of a collective art installation honoring the process of our Milpa. The planting of corn at Seeds of Solidarity, NorCal Resist's Community garden, which initiated in May 2025, has been the core of our creative process this year, bringing together a variety of artists, community members and organizations all in the spirit of reimagining the ways we relate to each other and the environment.
We will have musical performances by Raices band, a local all woman band, who specialize in cumbias, huaynos, pop/rock and more in espaรฑol; and our very own Chicha Band, our musical project that emerged from our creative process.
We're also accompanied by two local food vendors: Maiz Mexican Food and Mochica Piqueos Authentic Peruvian Food.
