In the evening, enjoy Chicana/o Historias dance performance by the Gabriela Mendoza-Garcia Ballet Folklorico at the historic Guadalupe Theater, 1301 Guadalupe St. Using scholarly text, archival research, and ethnographic sources, Dr. Gabriela Mendoza-Garcia narrates a history of the Chicana/o people with traditional folklorico dance along with a choreographic fusion of zapateado, mambo, and flamenco rhythms to show how the Chicanas/os fought for farmworkers rights, created the Brown Berets to help fight social injustice, and used the arts to re-affirm their Mexican roots. Tickets are $30, $25, $20, $15, according to tiers.
