8:30pm.The Chicago Yestet is a 13-piece big band which has performed throughout the Midwest, making appearances at the Chicago Jazz Festival, Hyde Park Jazz Festival, Isthmus Jazz Festival, and Taste of Chicago. Formed in 2008 by composer, bandleader, and trombonist Joel Adams, the band features some of Chicago's best, busiest, and most creative musicians such as, Geof Bradfield, Russ Johnson, Chris Madsen, and Mike Allemana, to name a few. The music not only reflects admiration for Thad Jones and other big bands from the 1960's and 70's but also a deep love for James Brown, Lucinda Williams, and Donny Hathaway. The Chicago Yestet is committed to grooving, is not afraid to play simply, and is willing to directly take on political issues through music.
