About this Event
This first Chicago Prinefest will be held at Irish American Heritage Center with national and local singer/songwriters performing, and ending with a sing-a-long session in the bar, as is only fitting - John’s love for the Irish and a good pint is well known. He anchored plenty of post show revelry in pubs with local musicians in his years.
Arlo McKinley, a stand out on Prine’s own Oh Boy Records. fame.He will interpret some of Prine’s tunes, also showcasing his own originals that draw from the roadmap Prine’s writing started. Starting out the theater portion of the evening will be locals The Lawrence Peters Outfit, country/americana slingers, well known local musicians rooted in the Chicago scene for decades.
Hosting the evening will be Los Angeles based, former Chicagoian, Rick Wood. Rick’s adoration for all things Prine knows no bounds. A full time writer/producer for MTV, Rick also travels the country as a stand-up comedian, and is a musician in his own right - writing and performing as Lone Jogger.
The celebration ends in the Fifth Province bar with a gang busters sing-a-long of John’s well known tunes and plenty of buried treasures. Backed by The Barb and Barrett Show, the band will be led by a who’s who of the Chicago songwriting community.
