
About this Event
The Chicago Parent Program is a national, evidence-based program designed to address the needs of parents/guardians raising young children (2-8 years old) in underserved communities.
Relationship building is the heart of the Chicago Parent Program. We help families by strengthening parents’ skills and confidence and their children’s mental health and wellbeing. We strengthen communities by building connections among families and between families and the agencies that serve them.
The Chicago Parent Program (CPP) began in Chicago in 2002 and draws upon more than 20 years of research. Its design reflects the perspectives and experiences of an advisory board of mothers, fathers, and grandparents. The 12-session program strengthens parenting skills and confidence, supports young children's behavioral health and wellbeing, and builds social connections and healthy communities. Since its inception, CPP has been deployed in over 26 states and counting.
Groups are held weekly. Groups are scheduled for 2 hours once a week over 11 consecutive weeks, with the 12th session being help one month after the 11th. See schedule below:
