About this Event
Learn how to plant and care for bare-root trees, discover the importance of woody plants for caterpillars, bumblebees and more, and enjoy refreshments on a beautiful farm setting. Hosted by the Chester Agricultural Center and Partners for Climate Action.
Planting holes will be pre-dug and volunteer tasks will include planting young trees, adding tree tubes for deer protection, and spreading mulch. Participants should be comfortable navigating a working farm landscape with possible areas of uneven or muddy terrain. Kids are welcome; please no pets.
What to wear and bring: We recommend bringing a water bottle, hat, and clean gardening gloves. Please wear sturdy clothes and mud-free boots to help us prevent the spread of invasive jumping worms. Restrooms, water, and snacks will be available onsite.
This event will take place rain or shine except in the case of extreme weather conditions. Participants will be contacted with any changes.

About the Chester Agricultural Center: Situated on more than 270 acres of Orange County’s extremely fertile black dirt, the Chester Agricultural Center conserves prime farmland, making it available to the next generation of farmers through long-term, affordable leases and access to farm infrastructure. Our mission is to help grow an equitable and inclusive regional food system. We see a future where land is affordable to diverse, aspiring farmers, where food is accessible to all, and where we respect and steward the unique soils and ecosystem in our care. About This Project: Partners for Climate Action (PCA) is a Hudson Valley regional nonprofit committed to catalyzing bioregional ecological action. Through generous funding from the New York Community Trust, New York State Office of the Attorney General and New York Pollinator Conservation Fund, PCA is partnering with five regional farms to install habitat in support of our most vulnerable locally native pollinators.
