The legendary voice of The Runaways is back for one last electrifying tour Down Under in September 2025.
Australian rock and punk fans, prepare to witness history! Cherie Currie, the trailblazing rock icon and former front-woman of the groundbreaking band The Runaways, has announced her final Australian tour. This marks the first time Currie has graced Australian stages since her debut Australian tour in 2016—and it will be her last!
As one of rock’s true pioneers, Cherie Currie exploded onto the music scene in the 1970s as the unmistakable teenage voice of The Runaways, delivering anthems like ā€œCherry Bombā€ that redefined what it meant to be a young, fearless woman in rock ā€˜n’ roll so much though that she was described as the ā€œlost daughter of Iggy Pop and Bridgette Bardotā€.
Alongside her bandmates in The Runaways, she shattered barriers, inspired generations of female rockers, and cemented her place in music history.
But Cherie Currie is more than just a rock legend. She’s a style icon, celebrated for her edgy, daring style that continues to influence trends today. Her iconic corsets, platform boots, and glam-punk flair are still a source of inspiration in pop culture.
Currie’s talents have also shone beyond the stage. As an actress, she starred alongside Jodie Foster in the 1980 classic ā€œFoxesā€, a film that captured the spirit of youth and rebellion. More recently, her life and career were immortalised in the acclaimed biopic ā€œThe Runaways,ā€ starring Dakota Fanning as Cherie and Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett.
For this farewell tour, Cherie Currie promises fans a high-energy setlist packed with Runaways hits, solo favourites, and surprises, celebrating her remarkable journey in rock.
ā€œCurrie came across like a panther let out of a cage… Currie amazingly looked every bit the vixen that she was at 15. She still has the vocal chops. Currie truly owned the stage.ā€ New Wave Go.
Cherie Currie’s Final Australian Tour is the ultimate celebration of a rock legend who defined an era and inspired countless fans and would-be musicians around the globe. Whilst The Runaways never made it to Australia, we have been lucky enough to witness their iconic vocalist not only once, but now twice with a chance to say goodbye.
Joining Cherie Currie is Melbourne’s Hot Machine, the fast rising, fiery 5 piece all girl rock band from Melbourne who are quickly becoming one of the hottest live bands in the country with their high energy and heavy, classic rock sound. The band released their debut EP, ā€œLeather and Steelā€ in 2024 which has been described as a ā€œwild, hot listening experience jam packed with a vibe that explains why it is cutting through the noise and going beyond Melbourne’s city limitsā€ - Music Is To Blame. A band on the rise that you simply can’t miss and the perfect opener for Cherie Currie.
