Meet the Women Shaping the Future of Research and Care
Join us for an inspiring conversation with three pioneering voices redefining what’s possible in science, medicine, and patient care.
- Dr. Kari Ring – Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Director of the High-Risk and Hereditary Cancer Center. A gynecologic oncologist leading advances in cancer genetics, prevention, and personalized treatment for women at elevated cancer risk.
- Dr. Melanie Rutkowski – Associate Professor of Microbiology, Immunology & Cancer Biology, member of the Beirne B. Carter for Immunology Research and the UVA Cancer Center. Her groundbreaking research reveals how the microbiome influences cancer outcomes, with potential to prevent ovarian cancer and transform failed treatments into lifesaving breakthroughs.
- Dr. Eyleen Jorgelina O’Rourke – Associate Professor of Biology. Her innovative work investigates how detoxifying harmful byproducts of fat metabolism can delay aging, extend healthspan, and reduce age-related disease.
The discussion will be moderated by Kelli E. Palmer, founding member of The SheLab.
All ticket proceeds will benefit the UVA Cancer Center Director’s Fund.
