A fun, thorough & informative 2.5 hour workshop with Heather untangling Chaturanga, and the transitions in and out of this pose, build necessary strength & stability in the shoulders, arms & core, and work towards & deepen your practice and understanding of one of the most practiced yet misunderstood poses within Sun Salutations, and Vinyasa & Ashtanga Yoga.
How many times do you hear the teacher saying – “Chaturanga – Updog - Downdog”...?
Yet Chaturanga Dandasana, the journey into it, and moving out of and onwards to the next pose are for many practitioners the most commonly misunderstood & misaligned parts of dynamic Yoga! It can become blurry & confusing as we tend to flow at pace between them, and rarely separate out and practice each pose individually to really understand what’s happening throughout the body.
In this workshop you’ll spend plenty of valuable time:
⭐Separating Chaturanga out of the flow and breaking it down as an individual pose.
⭐Explore the transitional movements entering & exiting the pose skillfully & safely.
⭐Learn & understand the essential anatomical factors.
⭐Practice different techniques to prepare the body including how to strengthen and maximise stability in the Upper Body & Shoulders.
⭐Improve your shoulder strength through full drills and yoga exercises.
⭐Uncover the value of practicing this pose as a steady foundation & preparation for Arm Balances.
⭐Find out how to use the core and legs correctly for stability & integrity.
⭐Understand where common misalignments happen and how to prevent injuries in your body.
⭐Play with variations & modifications that everyone can start to integrate in their own practice to work safely, slowly, efficiently & patiently.
We’ll also zoom in on Upward Dog and Downward Dog for some refinement & suggestions on both to find balance and integrity in the flow. This will properly educate you and help define your understanding & practice of these parts as you thread them back together with breath synchronised movement.

This workshop will be taught at a gradual pace. It includes a mixture of theory, prep, asana, and will allow for relaxation and a Q & A at the end.
