About this Event
“Provence is a country to which I am always returning, next week, next year, any day now, as soon as I can get on a train” is how Elizabeth David began French Provincial Cooking and it is hard to disagree with her.
Provence is so pregnant with smells and flavours, that it holds a magnetic attraction for Epicures. From the sweetness of lavender to the fire of garlic and the rasp of tannic Mourvedre, Provence is the most romantic French region and a wine lover's paradise.
While the pale rosés that refresh the yachtsman of the Cote d'Azure hold the limelight, the reds of the Vaucluse and the Comté Venaissin are equally celebrated, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, and the many surrounding villages that cluster in the shadow of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Quintessential summer wines, tonight we will open some of our favourites from hearty Bandol to exotic Marsanne and plenty in between.
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
