About this Event
This program invites you on a musical journey spanning two centuries and bridging two worlds. It explores how composers use deeply personal experiences to create powerful and evocative music, from the heart-on-sleeve Romanticism of Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms to the cultural fusion of contemporary Navajo composer Connor Chee and the atmospheric Impressionism of Claude Debussy.
Chase Coleman is a Flagstaff-based pianist and music educator known for his versatility in performing both classical and jazz repertoire. An active member of the Southwestern music community, he has appeared as soloist with Orchestra Northern Arizona, the Verde Valley Sinfonnietta and as a soloist in performances across the region and internationally. He maintains a busy piano studio where he offers lessons and also serves as the organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Flagstaff. He has served on the music faculties of the Boston Conservatory, Coconino Community College and Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy. Coleman received his musical education from Boston University and the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His eclectic artistic sensibility has led him to explore a wide range of musical genres, from the Renaissance to contemporary classical and jazz works.
