About this Event
We will be spending an hour spotting and recording birds in the Nature Reserve as part of this UK-wide citizen science project that has been running for more than 40 years. It’s a great opportunity to take some time out to tune into the world of birdsong and help conservationists understand what is happening to birds across the UK.
Last year 18 species were spotted in two locations (one in Great Park near to the boundary with Charlcombe Way footpath and a second in Mudcombe) during the hour. Species seen included Bullfinch, Jay, Kestrel, Long-tailed tit and Nuthatch.
Families are very welcome and we’ll be meeting at the kissing gate on Charlcombe Way before splitting into groups for the birdwatch. It's likely to be muddy so best to wear walking boots or wellies; and if you have any access requirements please do get in touch. If you have any binoculars it would be great if you could bring them along.
You can find out more about the Big Garden Birdwatch via: https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/big-garden-birdwatch. It helpfully explains more about how the Birdwatch works.
