Charity Gig for St. Francis Animal Welfare @ The Junction

On Sunday, 16th of November, I will be hosting a Charity gig for St. Francis Animal Welfare @ The Junction Inn (St denys). 10 Local artists will be putting on a special 5-hour show. This is a completely free entry event, so please consider an optional donation to support the fantastic St Francis Animal Welfare charity. Anything you can spare would make a massive difference. Come along on the 16th to support local live music and a local charity. Thanks in advance for your support.

'St Francis Animal Welfare is a registered charity (no: 1166590) which has been established since 1953. Our shelter is based at Sunnyside Cottage, Mortimer’s Lane, Eastleigh, Hampshire. We care for, rehabilitate and rehome numerous domestic animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, caged birds, and various small mammals. St Francis Animal Welfare receives no government funding, and we rely totally on donations and by hard work fundraising.'

Simon Maggs & People like us

Simon Maggs (guitar & vocals), Gary Winstanley (guitar) and Chris Bluemel (violin) are three-fifths of indie folk band People Like Us.
Literate, indie-folkie songs blend catchy melodies with wry lyrical storytelling, rich with relatable real-life themes and occasional kitchen-sink narratives.
Their sound draws inspiration from the likes of Billy Bragg, Paul Heaton, The Smiths, and Frank Turner — mixing folk charm with a touch of protest and plenty of heart. Recent releases like Baby Boomers, Cartoon Fantasy, and One For The Teenagers showcase their upbeat, melodic side, while tracks like Two Legs Better reveals a darker more, reflective edge and Last Man Standing brings out a rockabilly side.

Nick Haynes

Nick Haynes is a semi-acoustic songsmith who crafts melodies from the hidden fragments of life’s stories. His music weaves together gay love songs, laments for lost venues and old friends, and celebrations of holidays, parties, food, and new places. Each song connects with a part of you that has been dormant, waiting to be awakened by his heartfelt lyrics and soulful tunes.

Charlie Smith

My name might be common, but my style is alternative. I'm Charlie Smith a raw, honest, singer-songwriter from Hampshire, UK. I host and perform at my own shows at venues such as the Railway Inn, The Attic, and Crosfield Hall. In October 2023, I embarked on my first solo tour of northern England, performing in Leicester, Leeds, Liverpool, and Stockton. My most recent 'DIY Tour 24' was built around showcasing local musicians and took me along the south of England (Brighton, Portsmouth, London, and Southampton). The 3-track single 'God Doesn't Hate You' Recorded on a Zoom R8 is my first release of 2025 marking an adventure back into lo-fi recording. Using nothing but a portable recorder, its microphones & effects, proved a welcome challenge. What the three tracks lack in polish, they make up for with creativity. It proves that even with limited studio equipment, you can make music.

Milly Thimaras & Laurence Henderson

Singer-songwriter Milly Thimaras and guitarist-vocalist Laurence Henderson join forces for a special set of original songs written together and from their solo projects. Milly recently released her debut album Bullets, while Laurence is gearing up to release his own album next. Both bring their unique styles and chemistry to the stage and are proud to be performing in support of St Francis Welfare for Animals.

Paul Linberry

Guitarist and vocalist for punk band Call in Sick, Paul also writes songs for himself and his acoustic guitar. Unplugged punk because therapy’s expensive, and I already own a guitar. Sad/angry songs, shouted politely.

Nic Forsyth

Nic Forsyth is a singer/songwriter from Southampton who has previously been involved in several local original and covers bands as a guitarist and harmony vocalist. Last year, he started writing new material, hit a prolific writing streak and formed a new band, Waldo Salt. Whilst rehearsing with the new band, the writing streak continued and new songs kept on coming. So keen to get these new songs heard, he embarked for the first time as a solo acoustic artist.
Influenced by post punk, indie pop and a love of concise melodic tunes, expect songs of infectious joy and misery.

D'Kenzion

Ged, a singer-songwriter for over forty years and a published author with a series of books ‘Neander and the Dark Matter’. Over the years he has written music for his own and other bands, plus for two-stage shows performed in the Hoxton theatre, London. With a blues/rock influence, D’ KenZion is a tilt of the soft cloth cap to the works of Charles Dickens. The songs whilst light and groovy, are a comment on the injustice in the world today and a tribute to the works of Mr D.

Now we are dead

South East UK Alternative Ska Punk act NowWeAreDead brings a one man band show of off beat music that will make a sober person feel intoxicated with nothing but notes, chords and vocals. Southampton and Portsmouth based eager to perform as much as possible before his hair becomes gray.

Fragile Lucy

Get ready for something a bit different. With her funky flamenco style, indie, geek-rock tunes, quirky song lyrics and awesome voice. Fragile Lucy, armed with a tiny instrument and a massive personality really is one of the most unique musical acts out there. Her most popular songs “Vegetarian Ham” and “Techno Teddy” are a big hit at festivals and gigs. You may have seen her busking around the South Coast or playing online in recent times. Her latest single “Crazy Bout You” has been featured on BBC Upload and other local radio stations. If you haven’t heard of this ukulele wizard before you’re gonna be blown away. Always a fun-filled, energetic performance from a truly talented and inspirational artist.
