It's time to kick it up a notch! Starting on March 18th the Dance Friends VA will be showing you the first steps into Charleston Swing.
Before there was Lindy Hop, the dancing craze in America was the Charleston. This was both a partner AND a solo jazz step involving lots of kicks, turns, swings, lifts, and lots of energy!
Today, Charleston is a staple of modern Lindy Hop and other East Coast Swing dancing. It adds variety, allows you to keep up to fast music, and can be done with partner OR solo! Plus, it is a perfect progression from learning your basics.
Week 1: We'll kick it off by setting the groundwork on your Charleston basics and teach you the 8-count pattern solo dance.
Week 2: It'll be time to partner up and test out your rhythm while throwing in some minor variations.
Week 3: We'll tie it together with some of the most popular variations to spice it up and have some fun!

1st hour will be the lesson, and the last half hour will be a chance to practice open dancing with the rest of the participants in the class.
