About this Event
In each two-hour workshop, participants will:
- Learn about “character bibles” and how they can be useful as a character development/writing tool.
- Apply these tools to one character in their writing.
- Create their own templates for future use.

Each month will follow a specific theme:
April | Play a Game with your Characters: Building Character Bibles Using TTRPG Character Sheets
Participants will:
- Learn about “character bibles” and how they can be useful as a character development/writing tool.
- Discuss character creation using tools from games like Thirsty Sword Lesbians, D&D, Daggerheart, and Vampire of the Masquerade.
- Apply these tools to one character in their writing.
- Create their own template for future use.
Supplies provided:
- Blank character sheets from different TTRPG styles
- Zine making materials
May | Do some Reading with your Characters: Building Character Bibles and Backstories Using Tarot and Oracle Cards
Participants will:
- Learn about “character bibles” and how they can be useful as a character development/writing tool.
- Discuss character creation and backstory building using the introspection tools that cards and decks provide.
- Apply these tools to one character in their writing.
- Create their own cards and/or character journal template for future use.
Supplies provided:
- Tarot and Oracle cards for examples and play.
- Zine and card making materials
June | Take Your Character Out for Coffee: How to have a conversation with your characters and build character journals.
Participants will:
- Discuss character creation with fellow participants.
- Build a conversation with one character using character survey questions.
- Create their own journal template for future use.
