About this Event
Generative AI is having a huge impact on employers and job seekers, leading to a surge in applications and ultimately making it more competitive for people to secure a job.
Recent University of York research - Applying for jobs and generative AI: What do employers really think? - identified a significant gap between the perspectives of employers and those applying for jobs. There are threats and opportunities for all parties when it comes to the use of AI in applications and recruitment activities, but a lack of jobseeker awareness and consistent guidance, policy and reliable detection from recruiters is causing chaos in the jobs market.
Our expert panel discusses how we can navigate this unprecedented situation. Is this the start of a revolution in how people secure their future career or are we descending into a recruitment stalemate of AI recruiters assessing AI candidates?
The University of York Careers and Placement AI working group, funded by the Jisc careers research grant, explored the attitudes of employers recruiting in the York and North Yorkshire region to candidates using AI in recruitment and selection activities.
