Double Pentagon Concerts and Varlez Pianos present CHAMBER MUSIC 2026 Concert No. 6 featuring BASSO KWATRO.BASSO KWATRO is an innovative music ensemble composed of talented musicians hailing from the UST Conservatory of Music. The group has made their first public performance alongside the renowned Leela Bass Quartet from Thailand under the masterful direction of Mr. Sukol Sirisak. Basso Kwatro focuses on the exploration and performance of music specifically written for their unique chamber setup.
The ensemble brings together four passionate artists, all mentored by Mr. Ariston Payte, III, each contributing their own style and expertise. With a commitment to musical innovation and collaboration, Basso Kwatro is poised to become a significant voice in the contemporary music scene.

The artists :
REI BENEDICT FRANCIA is an award-winning double bassist and graduate of the UST Conservatory of Music. He has collaborated with most of the Philippines' leading ensembles, including the PPO, MSO, MPO, and UPSO.
Joining the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra in 2024, he and his other colleagues secured the Grand Prix in Bratislava and 1st Prize in Vienna during their European tour. A seasoned competitor, he is a multi-prize winner at NAMCYA, also earning Best Interpretation of the Contest Piece in the Senior Strings Category in 2023.
Today, Rei performs with their newly found quartet in 2024, โBasso Kwatroโ and remains a dedicated mentor, conducting workshops and private lessons to inspire the next generation of musicians.
JOHN CERWIN SALAGUINTO graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelorโs Degree in Music Major in Contrabass Performance, under the tutelage of Mr. Ariston Payte III. He was a former member of the UST Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Herminigildo Ranera and performed in most of its concerts from 2015-2022. Currently, he is teaching private music lessons and can be seen performing for various ensembles and orchestras across the country.
MARK AARON SALCEDO is a versatile bass player across the classical, theatrical, and pop music scenes in the Philippines while studying at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Conservatory of Music and member of USTSO. He has also taken international double bass masterclasses with Sukol Sirisak of Thailand and Edmond Cheng of Hong Kong. His ensemble work includes performances with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, Filharmonika, Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra, Sinfonia Pilipinas Orchestra, City Lights Symphony, Manila String Machine, and String Fusion. Additionally, he performed with the Betis Symphonic Band 46 when they secured second place at the Singapore International Band Festival.
As a pit musician, he has played for Lyric Operaโs productions of Tosca and Poulenc's works, as well as 9 Works Theatricalโs and Newport World Resorts (NWR) Musicals' Delia D. and Bagets the Musical. In the OPM and contemporary pop scene, he is a member of the 13th Blvd Band and Pintado and works as a sessionist for Star Magic artists Esang de Torres and James Philippe. Furthermore, he is involved in church music ministry, serving as a faculty member for the ACC Music Ministry and working as both faculty and arranger for the 4th Watch Symphony Orchestra.
DULCISIMO SINGAGOTE TERRADO JR. is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance, majoring in Contrabass.
Despite graduating only in 2024, he has already performed with several prestigious orchestras, including the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO), Filharmonika, and Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO). He previously served as Principal Contrabassist of the University of Santo Tomas Symphony Orchestra (USTSO) and as Assistant Principal of the Contrabass section of the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) in 2024. He is also a former member of the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth.
Among his notable achievements, he won first prize and the Grand Prix at the Bratislava Music Festival 2024 with the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra. He also earned First Prize with Outstanding Success at the 2024 Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna, Austria, again with the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO).
