The Boulder County chapter of CRES hosts Ron Sinton to hear about the challenges and trade-offs in achieving 100% clean electricity in CO.
About this Event

Our Boulder County chapter welcomes Ron Sinton, President of Sinton Instruments, for a Speaker Series presentation exploring the challenges and trade-offs of achieving 100% renewable energy.

This talk will explore the interplay between solar, wind, storage, and gas in the quest for affordable clean energy.

The focus will be on simple explanations that can be used to better visualize and understand more detailed plans. Decisions are being made now with less-than-perfect information about the future. Cost is an essential element, as affordable clean electricity is the fundamental requirement to enable rapid progress in clean transportation and heating, both of which now individually create more pollution than electricity in Colorado.

Join us in person in Boulder, Colorado, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder (UUCB). Arrive early for networking and light refreshments. The main presentation will start at 7 PM.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER

Ron Sinton has worked in the technical end of high-efficiency silicon solar cells for 43 years, starting with a PhD in Applied Physics at Stanford and as a founding member of SunPower.

He is the President and Senior Scientist at Sinton Instruments in Boulder, CO, manufacturing electronic equipment used in solar-cell R&D and manufacturing. Over the last decade, Ron has also pursued his interest in the energy transition to a renewable grid. He has participated as an expert witness in five proceedings at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, advocating for a quick transition to low-cost clean energy in Colorado.
