| Led by YogaUnMe teacher, Katherine Stiwinter, 200RYT |Most of modern life happens in a chair 🪑—at a desk, in the car, or on the couch. Yet very few of us are taught how sitting actually affects the body or how to sit in a way that supports long-term health. This workshop is designed to change that.
In Chair Yoga & the Anatomy of Sitting, we’ll explore how prolonged sitting impacts the pelvis, spine, hips, and core, and how simple, chair-based yoga practices can restore ease, strength, and awareness. This workshop is fully accessible and appropriate for all bodies, ages, and mobility levels.
What we’ll cover:
🦴 The anatomy of sitting: pelvis alignment, spinal curves, and weight distribution
🪢 How sitting affects the lower back, hips, glutes, hip flexors, and abdominal muscles
🧠 Common postural patterns related to sitting, including upper and lower cross syndrome
🧘 Chair yoga poses and movements to improve posture, circulation, and joint health
🛠️ Practical cues you can use at work, at home, and in daily life to reduce strain
Who this workshop is for:
💻 Anyone who sits for long periods (desk work, driving, studying, travel)
🌱 Students looking for a gentle, supportive yoga practice
🩺 Those experiencing back discomfort, hip tightness, or postural fatigue
📚 Yoga students and teachers interested in functional anatomy and real-life application
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your body in sitting and practical tools you can use immediately to feel more supported, comfortable, and at ease—both on and off the chair.
