This June, DelhiByFoot returns with “Dilli ki Night Shift” - a summer series dedicated to exploring the city after sunset.
As Delhi slows down under the weight of June afternoons, the city quietly begins another life at night, cooler, softer, more intimate, and filled with stories waiting to be stumbled upon. Through this series, we invite you to step out after hours and experience a different rhythm of Delhi: one shaped by moonlight, old conversations, lingering music, hidden corners, and the strange magic that only arrives once the sun goes down.
Begin this summer sunset series soaking in the blessings of “Hazrat-e-Dilli” — a name lovingly given to Delhi in the 13th century, when Sufi saints from across lands made this city their home, leaving behind a legacy of spirituality, music, poetry, and love that still lingers in its air.
As dusk settles over the city and the heat of a long June day softens into a breezy, fragrant evening, join DBF for a walk through the heart of Nizamuddin Dargah, the final resting place of Delhi’s beloved patron saint, Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya.
In an age when emperors chased kingdoms and power, the Sufis chose another path; one of compassion, dialogue, music, and service. Their khanqahs welcomed everyone alike: kings and fakirs, poets and labourers, wanderers and seekers. Nearly 800 years later, their teachings of love, hope, and humanity continue to breathe through the winding alleys of this place.
Walk with us through streets once graced by saints, where the mundane and mystical blend seamlessly together. Amid the scent of roses and ittar, the calls of vendors selling kebabs, flowers, chaadar, mithai, and masalas, discover stories hidden within domes, courtyards, and centuries-old monuments.
As night deepens, immerse yourself in the soul-stirring atmosphere of the dargah with live qawwalis and timeless Khusrawi kalaams echoing through the courtyard — harmoniums, tablas, claps, and voices rising together in devotion under the Delhi sky.
A perfect experience for lovers of Delhi’s history, Sufi traditions, music, storytelling, and evocative visual experiences. The Heritage & Culture Walk will be conducted in a mix of Urdu/Hindi and English.
