Chēng-Bá Dào Internal Structure Training
Event: Chēng-Bá Dào Internal Structure Training
Location: Hillandale Jiu-Jitsu
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. A martial art technique is not an action, as one might assume, but a reaction. The action begins with the foot. Chēng-bá is a term used to describe the body’s connection to the ground, the literal foundation of force. Using the principles of Aikido, Karatedo, and Tai Chi Chuan, Chēng-Bá Dào Internal Structure Training facilitates the development of a strong internal structure and more powerful techniques.
Chēng-Bá Dào Internal Structure Training with Shihan James Huss, 5th Dan, will cover techniques and applications from:
➧ Tai Chi Qigong—stances and exercises that develop power from the ground;
➧ Tai Chi Tuishou—partner drills that improve connection and reaction to force;
➧ Shorin-ryu Karatedo—blocking and striking for deflecting and intercepting;
➧ Suenaka-ha Aikido—joint locks and throws for entering and controlling.
Shihan James Huss, 5th dan, has been practicing martial arts for over 36 years and has extensive training in Karatedo, Aikido, and Tai Chi Chuan. He has studied and taught in the USA, China, S. Korea, Okinawa, The Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand. His most notable teachers include Roy Suenaka (Aikido/Karatedo), Dong Zhengxiong (Tai Chi Chuan), Ridgely Abele (Karatedo), and Wei Kuangtao (Tai Chi Chuan), though he has had numerous other skilled instructors. Shihan Huss currently holds public martial arts classes in the DMV.
