For March, we are very pleased to present the Montreal premiere of the acclaimed documentary,
CFNY The Spirit of Radio.
CFNY is a modern rock/alternative radio station in Toronto, and this documentary explores its legendary 80s period when it was still an independent station breaking all the rules and the first commercial radio to champion punk, new wave and alternative music in Canada.
This is the 90 min uncut version only available at selected special event screenings.
After the film, we will have IN PERSON four of the DJs who were an integral part of that 80s golden era; Scot Turner, Ivar Hamilton, and Alan Cross will be here in person. Liz Janik will join us on Zoom.
In addition, we will have exclusive film-related merchandise available for sale.
If you love the 80s, you need to see this; footage and interviews with many of your favourite 80s new wave bands. And yes, the RUSH song was inspired by CFNY (Geddy Lee explains it in the film).
