Cy-Fair CERT Class 41 Spring 2024 – Community Emergency Response Training

After registering you will be contacted for CERT Training. This Harris County program requires 24 seats assigned to trainees to start any class. Class 41, schedules do change, it occasionally can happen. Planned Class 41schedule is for March 19 thru May 14 2024, Tuesday's 6:15 PM Sign In & Seating. Class begins at 6:30 PM.
No pre-existing skills are needed to start this class training. Your attention and active participation are your most important assets, for the entire class to succeed. This is a VERY hands on training event!! We work in pairs or teams, we learn not to strain ourselves, this is easy, with some team lifting, proper bending and and proper kneeling. If you are not active or have limited movement, we have a spot for you too!! We have had persons in casts, on crutches, recent knee surgery in most every class and all happily completed all CERT training.
We consider CERT Training as the basis of all other training programs. We do not require your volunteerism after training, we do not ask for donations. THIS NATIONAL PROGRAM IS FOR YOUR SAFETY, and the safety of your loved ones and neighbors. Protective equipment will be provided to you in the first few weeks of training. Backpack, supplies, stylish hard hat, fancy eye protection and gloves all known as PPE; Personal Protection Equipment. This issued equipment is required throughout the class training schedule. Upon graduation, you are welcome to keep issued equipment at no charge.
After Graduation, you receive a photo ID card and Certificate of completion.
Come as you are week #1, work clothes, or casual. You do not have to buy anything for this course. We will discuss proper clothing and safe shoes early in the training schedule. Clothing and shoes you already own. There are nice restrooms, with changing space.
You will be amazed at the volume of information you retain from this program. You will have a trainer contact to answer your questions or discuss ideas outside class hours. REMEMBER: Your assigned trainer has a regular job, family just like you. You will find us fairly available and willing to answer your questions. There are nice restrooms with changing space.

Many of our instructors work all day like you. They gladly volunteer their time for your safety training. CERT Cy-Fair is an all volunteer organization.
People have come from outside counties to attend CERT Cy-Fair, including Waller, Ft. Bend, Galveston, Liberty and Brazoria to attend CERT Cy-Fair training. Crosby, Texas City, Rosharon to name a few towns. There are many CERT programs. We do our best to serve all interested persons. I believe our oldest is 96 now. Many 18 to ages 50 and beyond.
Presented by Cy-Fair CERT, Harris County Office of Emergency Management, and members of many other agencies including our Cy-Fair Fire Department volunteer trainer and our best subject matter experts, with a mix of active duty highly experienced first responders.
Trainees upon acceptance will receive complete information on the this class before class begins, including class room location and map. The location is not on proper search maps, Oddly, the address does not properly appear online, but displays in one of 8 places. So CERT Cy-Fair will send accepted trainees a map and proper classroom directions.
NO TESTS. Your participation and the safety of others at all times is the main test.
Our trainers are amazing and this is an easy to learn and understand program.

Ages 18 and up, no exceptions please. Limited seating, no guest seating or under 18 trainees. There is a separate TEEN CERT program for minors across town.
DO NOT ENTER THE FIRE STATION, Cy-Fair Fire is not part of this program. Cy-Fair Fire Department staff cannot answer any questions.

YOUR SINGLE SOURCE for information beyond class training is your "Cy-Fair CERT" Facilitator/CyFair CERT Trainer.
EVERYONE MUST PROVIDE NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL for Harris County to order materials. Multiple of the same name cannot be approved. This is a County funded program, funded in part by FEMA for your safety.
Register, and receive more information from our trainers! This is a registration only, seats will be assigned by CERT Cy-Fair. No one under 18 years of age may attend. Please bring Texas photo ID, state issued photo ID or military photo ID to class just in case.

REQUIRED to start class: Each person must provide name, cell phone number, email address. One person per registration. Harris County may require proof of age, photo and Harris County or a nearby county residency. Thank you.
Always notify your trainer if you are running late, or will be absent. NEVER rush or race to CERT training. This course is about your safety and the safety of others. Some training exercises require that we know if you cannot attend or are running late, most often we can wait for you. Please keep us informed.
Information you provide is only to assign community cost and for issuance of graduation ID cards and Certificates of Completion.
Capped bottled water only in the building. There may be vending machines in this facility.
Each night we leave the classroom and facility better than we found it. We police ourselves. No food, drinks or snacks, just capped water please.
DO NOT GO TO THE FIRE STATION, Cy-Fair Fire is not part of this program. Fire personnel do not know about CERT. We do get to use some fire facilities, very nice classrooms, smoke tower, nice rest rooms, search and rescue field under Harris County supervision for your safety. The coolest facility in all of Harris County.
