About this Event

Ceramic Sculpture!

Join us for an exciting hands-on experience at All Hands Pottery Studio! This in-person class is perfect for anyone interested in exploring the world of ceramic sculpture. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this workshop promises to be a fun and creative journey.

Dates: Saturdays, February 28th -April 4th, 2026

Time: 10 AM - 1 PM

Our expert instructor and master sculptor, James McLeod, will guide you through the process of creating your own unique large-format ceramic sculpture over the six-week session. Learn various sculpting techniques like modeling and carving, as you bring your artistic vision to life. We recommend you come to the first class with ideas and inspirational pictures or sketches of what you would like to create.

Your ticket includes one (1) 25lb bag of stoneware clay, use of studio tools and glazes, two open studio sessions, and both bisque and glaze firings for your sculpture. Additional clay, glazes, and personal tool kits are available for purchase from All Hands Pottery Studio. Your project must be ready to bisque fire and both Open Studio passes must be used within two weeks of classes ending.

More About James:

James began sculpting as a child in New York—he couldn’t have pets, so he made them instead. His passion for sculpting, which he describes as "creating life," has only grown since then. Entirely self-taught, James now shares his skills with others, helping each student discover what they’re capable of.

His style? “Imitation of life.” His advice to new artists? “Never say you can’t—but how do we get it done?” And his favorite part of the studio? Creating alongside other creative minds.

Outside the studio, you’ll likely find James enjoying nature or gardening. He approaches his art with an anthropological lens, believing that what we shape in clay can help tell our stories long after we’re gone.
