Sip, sculpt + unwind! Learn hand-building techniques and shape your own one-of-a-kind clay cup, perfect for coffee or tea!
About this Event

Unplug, unwind, and make something by hand at our feel-good pottery night — no experience needed. Whether you come for the joy of making, the community, or a mindful tech-free moment, this guided clay workshop is all about having fun while you sip and socialize.

Dive into hand-building your own one-of-a-kind ceramic coffee mugs or espresso cups. With step-by-step guidance from an expert Pottery with a Purpose host, you’ll learn pottery basics, how to create and decorate ceramic mugs, and how to add handles and surface designs that make each piece uniquely yours. Perfect for date night, catching up with friends, or coming solo to meet new people.

Bonus: We donate $1 from every ticket to mental health initiatives. Learn more here about which non-profits we’ve given back to so far, and how you can help choose who we support next.

Your ticket includes:

  • Complementary Drink: Sip on a freshly made beverage from Cafe Zing!'s selection of coffee, teas, and lattes.
  • Hands-On Instruction: A relaxed, hands-on pottery workshop guided by an experienced host.
  • Pottery 101: Learn foundational hand-building techniques like pinch pots and coils, then turn them into functional pottery with pieces like mugs, bowls, vases, or planters. We’ll also show you how to add fun touches like handles or texture.
  • All Supplies Provided: We bring the clay, tools, and materials — you just bring yourself.
  • Beginner-Friendly Vibes: Laid-back, no-pressure energy perfect for first-timers, solo guests, and friend groups alike.
  • Feel-Good Energy: Enjoy a welcoming, community-centered experience hosted at unique local spots — from breweries to plant shops and cozy cafés — that make the experience feel extra special.
  • Ceramic Clay Upgrade: Glazing, kiln-firing, and shipping for one of your pottery pieces made at the workshop.

How Ceramic Clay Upgrades work:

You must submit this digital form after your workshop to ensure you receive your pieces back (don't worry - we'll send this to you via email after your workshop). Here, you will indicate whether you want clear or white glaze for your piece, or if you plan to join us at the studio for a pottery painting. If we have not received a form submission within 30 days of your workshop, your piece(s) will be recycled.

Your piece(s) will be collected by our host after the workshop and returned to our headquarters in Needham MA where they will be carefully hand-glazed and fired by our studio professionals. Your pieces will be processed and shipped back to you after the glazing/firing process is complete in 6-8 weeks.

Want to add color? Painting is not included at this workshop. Learn how to sign up for a dedicated Pottery Painting Session at the Pottery With a Purpose Studio in Needham, MA here.
