About this Event
This is shaping up to be one of our most fun meetings to date! With both a day hike and a night hike, we are sure to have good chances of seeing some hill country specialities such as Texas alligator lizards and eastern black-tailed rattlesnakes. Those new to GCSNA can also look forward to visiting our dinosaur tracks, made by the carnivorous Acrocanthosaurus and the herbivorous Sauroposeidon during the early Cretaceous. For our birders among the group, the endangered golden-cheeked warbler is also practically guaranteed!
After the afternoon hike, CTHS President and GCSNA Park Ranger Ryan Collister will be giving the first lecture, followed by TPWD State Herpetologist Paul Crump. We will then embark on a night hike and wind down with free camping at our staff campground. Both hikes are roughly 5 miles round trip and on rugged, rocky terrain, so come prepared and with plenty of water!
See the Agenda and FAQ sections below! Please note that Eventbrite is how CTHS will be managing its event attendance going forward - your RSVP is important for determining headcounts, purchasing enough food and drinks, and keeping membership records! There are separate free "tickets" for General Admission and for the Campout, so please RSVP accordingly. Thank you and see you there!
