Come see some of the craziest trees in NYC and the stories behind them! You'll see huge honkin' trees, some oddballs, and a few surprises.
About this Event

Most people walk through Central Park without noticing they're surrounded by remarkable trees. Some older than the Brooklyn Bridge, others that have survived diseases that killed millions of their kind.

This 2 hour walking tour will change how you see the park and maybe trees in general.

What we'll see:

We'll visit 6-8 trees, many with real stories. American Elms that survived a plague, rare specimens from around the world, and trees that have quietly witnessed 150+ years of NYC history.

The vibe:

This is equal parts nature walk, history lesson, and "wait, that's actually fascinating" moments. No botanical jargon unless you want it. Just good stories and a new way to see something you walk past every day.

Details:

  • When: March 1st, 10am
  • Where: We'll meet at Central Park's E 97th St & 5th Ave entrance
  • Duration: ~2 hours, easy walking pace
  • What to bring: Comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water if you want it
  • Group size: Limited to 12 people

About me:

My name's Ian. I've been mapping remarkable trees around NYC and decided to start sharing what I've found. This is the first public tour, so you're getting in early. If you like to get out in nature or go deep on obscure and wholesome topics, this NYC tree walk is for you.
