During this presentation, we will delve into the multifaceted nature of cemetery photography and its role in preserving memories and unearthing history. Whether you're an amateur photographer, a history enthusiast, or a genealogist, this session will provide valuable insights and practical tips to enhance your cemetery photography endeavors. Understand the importance of composition, lighting, and angles to evoke emotion and convey the essence of the site and gain insights into photographing tombstones with sensitivity, capturing the intricate details, inscriptions, and artistic elements that make each memorial unique. Explore methods for deciphering weathered or illegible inscriptions, ensuring accurate documentation for genealogical research. We will also discuss the ethical aspects of cemetery photography, including respect for privacy, cultural sensitivities, and permission for photographing private or restricted areas.
