Cello and Organ Recital

St. Louis Catholic Church continues its concert series with Ruth Valente Burgess, Principal Cellist of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Together with organist Scott Elsholz, she will perform a varied recital of music for both solo and accompanied cello. Repertoire includes one of J.S. Bach’s brilliant Viola da Gamba sonatas, Bach's iconic solo Cello Suite in G Major, rarely-played Romantic works for cello and organ, and Arvo Pärt’s riveting Spiegel im Spiegel, among others. The program is free and a reception will follow.
