Yr Athro Alec Shepley, Athro’r Celfyddydau a Chymdeithas
Cefndir:

Mae’r ddarlith hon yn archwilio sut mae arferion artistig a dulliau creadigol yn ail-lunio cynllunio amgylcheddol drwy gryfhau lleisiau a gwerthoedd cymunedol.

Gan dynnu ar brosiectau ymchwil megis y Llwyfan Map Cyhoeddus, Dinasyddion Ecolegol, a Chyd-greu Naratifau Cymunedol, mae’n dangos sut mae dulliau yn seiliedig ar gelf yn helpu cymunedau i fynegi yr hyn sy’n cyfrif fwyaf ynghylch eu hamgylchedd lleol. Mae’r prosesau creadigol hyn yn cynhyrchu naratifau diwylliannol cymhellol sy’n gallu llunio polisi a chefnogi cynllunio addasu, yn arbennig felly yng nghyd-destun Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol.

Gan symud y tu hwnt i ymgynghoriad traddodiadol, mae’r ddarlith yn tanlinellu sut mae’r dulliau hyn yn meithrin ymgysylltu mwy dwfn a chynllunio mwy ystyrlon yn seiliedig ar wybodaeth a blaenoriaethau lleol.

Professor Alec Shepley, Professor of Arts and Society
About:

This lecture explores how artistic practices and creative methods are reshaping environmental planning by amplifying community voices and values.

Drawing on research projects such as the Public Map Platform, Ecological Citizens, and Co-creating Community Narratives, it shows how art-based approaches help communities to express what matters most about their local environment. These creative processes generate compelling cultural narratives that can shape policy and support adaptation planning, especially in the context of Wales’ Future Generations Act.

Moving beyond traditional consultation, the lecture highlights how these methods foster deeper engagement and more meaningful planning grounded in local knowledge and priorities.

About the speaker:

Alec is Associate Dean for Research and Professor of Arts and Society at Wrexham University. His Artistic Research has received funding from the Arts & Humanities Research Council, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the British Council, Arts Council England, Public Health Wales, and the Arts Council of Wales.
